The Perks of eBooks

There are a lot of things to recommend eBooks. They’re cheap to produce, so the writers make more money. They don’t kill trees. You don’t have to haul them around with you every time you move. But there are things I miss: being able to read in the bathtub, the smell of old books, loaning books to my friends to introduce them to a new author.

As much as I’m not a Kindle aficionado, I have to admit, Kindle has come up with a way to make those of us transitioning to eBooks from paper books as our drug of choice feel a little more at home. Introducing the Kindlegraph, Through which an author whose book is available via Kindle can choose to make that book “signable,” and purchasers can request an autograph. It’s not quite like the real thing, but it’s a step in the right direction. 🙂
